Robert Parker Jnr is the world authority on wine, an American who made his name through the now legendary Bordeaux vintage of 1982. He was able to spot its greatness early while others were being dismissive, he is now highly respected and has built his reputation as the most powerful voice in the world of wine.
Robert M. Parker, Jr. Is the only wine writer/critic in history to be given the highest Presidential Honors by two French presidents and an Italian President. On March 29, 1999, President Jacques Chirac signed a decree authorizing Robert M. Parker, Jr. to be a Chevalier dans l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur.
He was decorated directly by President Jacques Chirac at a ceremony at the Elysée Palace on June 22, 1999. President Chirac, in bestowing France’s highest honor, stated that “Robert Parker is the most followed and influential critic of French wines in the world. Robert Parker’s influence on fine wine prices cannot be overstated. As one observer once noted, “When Robert Parker spits, the world listens”.

An average wine with little distinction except that it is a soundly made. In essence, a straightforward, innocuous wine.
60-69
A below average wine containing noticeable deficiencies, such as excessive acidity and/ or tannin, an absence of flavour, or possibly dirty aromas or flavours.
50-59
A wine deemed to be unacceptable.
